Miko (Responsible for Information and Communication, European Commission) Moderation: Wolf D. Schoepe (Attorney, IAEL, Schoepe Fette J. Pennartz Reinke - Rechtsanwälte) The panel “Brussels 2.0” is intended to bring together politicians, economists, artists and consumers and to take a critical look at prevailing business structures and their consequences, their origins and possible future. As well as inviting discussion into the rapid move towards an information and knowledge society, the digitalisation of consumer goods, questions of copyright and culture production in the tug of war between art and profitability, and the discrepancy between European and national guidelines and directives in this area, the Year of Creativity and Innovation also draws attention to the central role of policy.

CONVENTION – EUROPAREISE WORKSHOP – EU-FUNDING PROGRAMME CULTURE (2007-2013)
Sabine Bornemann (Director, CCP-Cultural Contact Point Germany)
A workshop about the EU Culture Programme (2007-2013) The key to successful applications!
The European Union offers support to large scale cultural co-operations. Due to the fact that money is scarce for culture, even on EU-level, and that the cultural independence of the participating countries must under all circumstances remain untouched, there are several rules to be regarded when seeking EU support for a project. This workshop gives an overview of the structure of the EU Culture Programme (2007-2013) as well as useful tips and hints from the 12 years of practical consulting experience by Cultural Contact Point Germany, the official national help desk for the EU's Culture Programme. The main emphasis will be on the European aspects of project development - which type of project is eligible for EU funding and which is not? A short description of the new online application procedure will be given and we will briefly discuss alternative funding opportunities. There will be time to deal with questions from the participants.
2 - 4PM // UNDERGROUND LOBBY // SCHAUSPIELHAUS // FESTIVAL HEADQUARTERS
CONVENTION – PANEL – CHINA 2.0
Anja Goette (Cultural Manager of the German Pavilion EXPO 2010 Shanghai, Koelnmesse International GmbH), Jean Hsiao Wernheim (Head of International A-Peer Synergy Group), Neebing (Lychee Productions - The Leading Music/Multimedia Arts Promotion Team in China), Mumu Wang (Cultural Manager, Goethe Institut Beijing) Moderation: Memo Rhein (Manager R&D, Unlimited Media) No other country in the world has experienced such an unprecedented economical upheaval as seen currently in China. This is also reflected in a booming entertainment industry. Here alone 650 million people use the mobile phone for entertainment and as a music tool - and the Chinese are very openminded towards Europe, which provides for excellent business opportunities. The aim of the panel is to present to the German specialist audience and especially to the independent sector, a practical introduction and overview to and from the »Middel Kingdom«, whereby a particular focus will be placed on the Digital market.

With this support our friends may even be able to top the »Distortion Animal Tour Bus« extravaganza of 2007. Whatever the case, the Danish Entourage will certainly be one of the highlights of Europareise 2009.

Madsen (Managing Director, ROSA-Dansk Rock Samrad & SPOT-Festival) Moderation: Manfred Tari (Managing Director, POP 100) After the gold rush of recent years, can the live music industry sustain this boom? Irvin Azoff (CEO of Ticketmaster) warns in an article at IQ magazine that “the business is in far worse shape than many people realise”. So what will happen next? Moderator Manfred Tari will lead us through the latest developments of the live music industry and will ask if the live industries are generally taking on a new role and if yes, what exactly this role could be. The panel will also discuss the question, whether former record companies can also be good booking agents. On the other hand, does the concert industry invest enough into new talents, as showcase festivals do; and are showcase festivals possibly the future winners of the changing market situation?
